Description
Bond is assigned to hunt down and eliminate Kraken, a radical anti-capitalist who has targeted Britain's newly-upgraded nuclear arsenal. But all is not as it seems. Hidden forces are plotting to rebuild the faded glory of the once-mighty British Empire, and retake by force what was consigned to history. 007 is a cog in their deadly machine - but is he an agent of change, or an agent of the status quo? Loyalties will be broken, allegiances challenged. But in an ever-changing world, there's one man you can rely on: Bond. James Bond. Reviews: "A more violent, serious version of the classic spy, and that’s perfectly fine." - We The Nerdy "Visceral action, solid storytelling." - SciFi Pulse "Action-packed, unpredictable." - Heroes Direct

Forgive the Bond like pun, but this was Dynamite's best outing in their take on the legendary series thus far, all of which of course has been quality reads.SYNOPSIS:This story has James Bond, Agent 007, protecting England's leading arms manufacturer's CEO and his beautiful ambitious daughter from a ruthless anti capitalist known only as "Kraken", who has sites set on the company's latest project, Hammerhead, a powerful railgun capable of a new age of destruction. As Bond unravels the clues behind Kraken, each new lead brings him closer to a heinous plot that threatens his home country...and one that could lead him to his very demise.OVERVIEW:First of all, the story itself is gripping, hooking you from the very first page. It's nonstop action and thrills, yet doesn't exhaust you either with any overwhelming tendencies. The plot is multilayered, but very easy to follow and could be compared to any Bond film. Andy Diggle's portrayal of James Bond is dead on accurate in terms of the mannerisms, brutality, and charming sophistication while also bringing him up to today's standards when it comes to the opposite sex. Victoria Hunt, the company's daughter, was given ample screen time and her interactions and chemistry with Bond were very well crafted and entertaining. Diggle also made sure to provide M and Moneypenny with some important roles throughout the story, especially in the later stages during the climax. The artwork by Luca Casalanguida is phenomenal and captures the gritty espionage and 'Fleming Effect' scenery associated in the franchise. The true highlight are the action sequences, which both men have managed to top the two previous stories of VARGR and EIDOLON. My favorite two occur in the second and third issues of this compilation, however each issue possesses a memorable action escapade.Overall Diggle and Casalanguida have concocted an amazing ride on the senses that stands as Dynamite's best addition to their Bond reboot. This has high reread value and is a perfect addition to anyone's collection. I highly recommend.4.75 / 5
