On the whole, the sound quality is pretty good, but in some places, primarily on vocals, the clarity falls a little short. Also, there is a very little bit of noise residue on a few tracks, apparently from remastering. But then I'm a picky remasterer myself. The CD is not billed as a "best of", so there should be no expectation that all the tunes were top hits. However, they should be good ones, and they generally are. For reference, here are the peak positions (where applicable) on the Billboard 100 singles charts (with the associated year):1. I've Heard That Song Before #1 (1943)2. Trumpet Blues and Cantabile3. Ciribiribin #10 (1940)4. I Had the Craziest Dream #1 (1943)5. You Made Me Love You #5 (1940) also eventual Grammy6. Cherry #4 (1944)7. Stardust8. Sleepy Time Gal #21 (1944)9. Carnival10. Two O'Clock Jump #19 (1943)There are no liner notes. It is not certain when the recordings were made.
